Halloween / All Saints / All Souls Day

Philippines is one of the nations who's made All Saints/Souls days a national holiday, we don't actually celebrate Halloween as a holiday.

Here are some links to help those who are unaware as to the history of Halloween/All Saints/All Souls Day and suggestions from others about how we as Christians can cause this season to point people to God.
Do you have relatives who celebrate All Saints/Souls Day?
How do you as a Christian use this season to witness Jesus' love for the living?

Two place at once

That would've been a superpower I wish I had the past two days as two fantatstic conferences were held over our church facilities w hich I wanted to attend. The annual Master's Commission and Richard Exley conferences. Both focused on discipleship & evangelism/missions. I actually did attend both, but had to sacrifice one session to attend another. Have to find out if there's video/recorded teachings. na lang, I guess.

Congrats the coordinating teams of both events for doing a masterful job. Also to ICS for being able to juggle these events around and with your own schedules to work with as well :D

Master's Commision Team led by Jesse D., ICI Philippines for Richard Exley's event, and ICS admin for making it possible for all these things to take place as smoothly as they did! It's wonderful when people move in love and bring honor to the head who is Jesus Christ! To HIM be all the glory!

NYMNet

I arrived 45 mins late at our first National Youth Ministries Networkmeeting this morining at Central Assembly of God, Paco, Manila. It was a full & fun day. There were only two people who couldn't make it to the meeting so it was a good representation of the core national team. It's all systems go for Chi Alpha, Christ's Ambassadors, Young Adults, Leadership and Resource development.

2007 looks to be a full year for the NYMNet. Here are some scheduled events:

  • Jan 30 - Feb 2: Church Based Campus Minstry Conference
  • April - May: Church Planting in U-belt & Los Banos
  • August: Youth Pastor's Institute
  • Oct - Nov: Regional/National Young Adults Convergence
  • 3 Regional Youth Leadership Institutes

and that's just the beginning... I'll update this again when we have more information. Please be praying for us.

labels

all my blogs before this date don't have labels, since it wasn't yet available then. No, I'm going to label my previous posts individually, are you kidding?! So for those who have the time, just click the back button! :)

back

after sojourning through various blog servers (multiply; wordpress) I'm back to my original blog site. It's primarily due to the recent improvements. However, I'm still having a problem posting from Picassa. Anyone else experiencing this? I'm hoping multiply is able to make the adjustments so cross-posting will work... so welcome back to blogger!

Bicol relief update from the Assemblies of God blog

Cathedral of Praise in Manila (formerly known as Manila Bethel Temple, the “Christ is the Answer Church”) will be distributing aid to members of A/G churches here.Pastor Danny Arceo, a credentialed Assemblies of God minister who is also the vice president of the Development Bank of the Philippines for Southern Luzon, wants to use our church network here to dispense 2 million pesos of aid from his bank. Obviously, our churches and members will benefit from this. Also, Convoy of Hope USA is sending six pallets of water filters, tents, and tarps by Federal Express, which will hopefully be in our hands within 10-14 days. They are also sending two men next week to train local pastors and members in the use of these filters, which will be set up in Assemblies of God churches throughout the region. This will give the churches another form of outreach into their communities. The tents and tarps will be used to provide temporary shelters, with our pastors probably receiving top priority.
